i get on to the branch and it trys to load the pack and dcs me

What's the message that it gives you? That you've "Timed Out"?

I would try to use a different MC version, try to change the way you're connecting ( Either Direct Connect or a Saved Server ), check your internet connection, and close any running background things that might be using RAM. Other than that, I'm not entirely sure what could be going on.
