They need to update it. I hope the make the pokemon received from eggs level 1 cause if their level 50 or above, the pokemon will have a randomly generated moveset which isn't always good.
We have now Move Re-learner so this should solve that issue. However it does bring problems with lower Trainer Level players wanting to trade with higher trainer level Pokemon. Due to the fact that You cant see a level 55 Pokemon in the wild till level 26.
The egg system will likely never change. Other than the moves it works pretty well if you watch the big you tubers open eggs
